Skateboarding chick

Kyra's been begging me for a skateboard. I thought she was confusing the skateboard with skiing or sledding. So I was pretty surprised that she started bringing me photos of skateboards and telling me that she has to wait her turn at school to ride (which is strange, because her school does not have skateboards) and that she needs a helmet and she wants to go fast, fast, fast...like Lightening McQueen and Diego.

Believe it or not, the minute I placed a skateboard in front of her, she began tailsliding it. Then, she flipped it onto her back and held the deck with her right hand and said, "Come on Mommy. Let's go."

Oh man, I wish I got a picture of it...my little skateboarding chick.

But I did get these pictures...yes, she sleeps with her board. And if you look closely, she's got her dragon riding it. I so love my daughter!

Kyra skiing

This weekend we enrolled Kyra in her first ski lesson. Much to mommy's disappointment, they won't allow her to snowboard until 5 years old. However, when I talked to her about skiing, she kept begging me for a skateboard (more on this later). And when I showed her my snowboard, she said, "I love snowboarding! I need a little one, for Kyra." She even had the whole snowboarder pose down. I guess its in her blood.

Thomas and I took turns running beside her as she skiied. Alas, no snowboarding for us this weekend. By the second day, she was so proud of herself for being able to do it on her own, her way...which involves sometimes collapsing on the ground and doing snow angels.

2nd publication

OMG! "Love Food" will be published in April by Rosebud Magazine. I just spoke to the Editor and he says that the issue I'll be published in might have new poems from Alice Walker, lyrics from Jim Morrison, and a story by W.P Kinsella (the guy who wrote the Field of Dreams story). You can get a copy in 900 stores in the United States and Canada, UKBorders in London, and a number of record stores in Japan.
